There are some people out there who think schools should be free from marketing. Read to find out what they're doing in some schools to be sure kids aren't distracted...what's your take on this?

I agree that some video game and cartoon characters are inappropriate for school. However, characters such as Spongebob and Mario are harmless. Kids should be allowed to bring back packs and wear t-shirts with these characters on them, as long as there is no vulgarity, drug reference, or crude humor. I personally don't find this merchandise distracting.
That's just ridiculous. These cartoons and things have been part of people's lives for a long time. I mean, who doesn't have a T-shirt of one of their favorite brands, or something of that sort? It's so normal nowadays, it's not going to distract anyone. Also, pressure is a part of pretty much everyone's daily lives, and taking away cartoon charecters isn't going to change that. I think people are just being a little bit too paranoid, if you can call it that.

I think these cartoon characters have nothing to do with this. Just like Rashmi said these cartoons have been going on for a long time, and it never effected other people in the past...... so why stop now with cartoons? There has to be another reason for this and cartoons is not it!!!

In my opinion this is a ridiculous rule! I understand if they are maybe wearing a inappropriate shirt or item but is ridiculous that they`d even get rid of Tigger or even Thomas the Train!

This is outrages.. Who cares if some kid wants to wear his favorite t-shirt or use his backpack? I mean, it cant be like really inappropriate, but doesnt mean you can sue a school for a kid wearing some Tigger socks!I think thats naughty. In my opinion, the person who made up this rule is as bad as making rules as the dude who invented homework ;(

I think that it has gone to far because it is absurd that you can't wear your favorite cartoon character or actor on your shirt. I don't think it should be banned ''For Pete Sake'' its their shirt. Its like you cant wear your Taylor Lautner shirt and it has no words on it.
I don't like the idea that they are banning those from schools. Students have rights in the constitution and they may be breaking or bending some of them with this new rule! Someone should look in the constitution and see if we have rights to wear even our own clothes. We have freedom of speech and we should have freedom to wear clothes that we bought! If this rule becomes more popular, someone should sue. I will be mad if they move this rule to Wake County and if I want to wear my shirt I should be allowed to. I am outraged!
that is soooo dumb that some kids can't waer cartoon character. It reminds me of like you have to wear school uniforms. I love cartoons, and so do little kids. I know a lot of kids that have a lot of cartoon shirts, so if they were banned at school to wear those, some kids would have not a lot of shirts to wear. I think that it is a super dumb idea.

i agree with colin its a "super dumb" idea. heck a 14 year old got sent to court 4 wearing tigger socks!i am saving my tickets for some heart socks but still! that is a preposterous idea its ludicrous and obsurd. i think i will walk up to one of those schools wearing a spongebob t-shirt mario backpack tigger socks and have a sign thats says: GIVE SPONGEBOB A CHANCE!
I think this is unfair because when we were little we got to wear our favorite cartoon characters but now our little sibling are not going to be able to. But also some kids may be influenced to do crazy things like sponge bob. I agree and disagree.
