Kill Shakespeare!?

I thought you guys might enjoy this slide show that outlines a new graphic novel called "Kill Shakespeare" where the writers combine all the heros and heroines from Shakespeare's plays into one graphic novel.

Do you think turning old, classic stories into graphic novels is a good idea? Explain your thinking...

The pictures are a little bit gory. Otherwise the graphic novels might inspire readers to check out Shakespeare's works. I would rather read the real thing.

I agree with Celsia and TJ on how it might people make want to inspire people. It's not that gory/bloody that much. It's kinda fitting for the title since it does say "kill". I think that the name does grap peoples attention, and they'll probably check it out, and learn a bit about Shakespeare too.

I agree with everyone who said this pic is a bit gory, but thats just the picture. The book might that much like the cover, but i guess thats unlikley. The cover can be used as a grabber, to get people to read it. What i dont understand is why the dead person is holding a feather in his hand. Someone has to read the book to find out.

I just found out thats what hes holding is a quil, not just a feather. It almost looks like the guy stabbed himself or got stabbed with that quil because the tip is tinted with blood, too. or maybe thats not really blood from the dude, maybe its just ink from the quil, but i guess thats highly unlikly since the title is kill shakespere, where i guess you expect blood. Considering that he is holding a quil, not a pencil, you can tell that this is not the present, but a while ago but now that I think about it, shakespere isnt even alive now (Duh!), he was a long time ago, so thats probally not a very smart accusation.

I like the idea!! I think it's helpful for all the people who dont want to spend time trying to decipher old english, or want to learn a little about shakespeare's work, with a twist. Also for the people who love Shakespeare's writing, and have read everything, but wouldnt mind something new. I really like the idea. It's pretty interesting to me. I don't really think its that gory. I mean, I don't know too much about his writing, but I think that in Macbeth, there is a lot of death, and the king kills everyone...I think. I also don't understand why it might be called: Kill Shakespeare. Any ideas, anyone? Maybe we'll just have to read it to find out...

Well, I guess it would be a good idea but to be honest I wouldn't read that book because Shakespeare was a great writer but it wouldn't be good as a book. Just like how the Hunger Games and Out of my Mind wouldn't be good as a play. Hunger Games might become a good movie but Out of my Mind wouldn't.

This seems like an interesting graphic novel, although I'm not sure if I'd like to read it. I would rather read a novel like the one that I'm reading now. Shakespeare is a great play and poem writer and I don't understand why people would like to kill him.

I would love to see romeo and juliet and the other characters al together in a graphic novel. Mostly because i like graphic novels and reading comics so much.
