Cyberbullying is no joke.

Bullying is nothing new. However, with the invention of the internet, there is a new venue for students and adults to bully, intimidate, and threaten others. Sometimes, they even hide behind a username.

Read below about two teenagers in the Triangle who have been charged with cyberbullying.

We constantly talk about bullying and its negative effects. Why do people still continue to do it? Is the internet making it easier for kids and adults to bully because they can choose to be anonymous?

I don't thing cyber bulling is good because some people might really get hurt inside and do bad stuff. I read an article about this and the news paper about cyber bulling andtwo people got arrested for cyber bulling people. I think the police did the right thing by arresting those people.

Whoa. I guess this is one of the worst forms of bullying, because on the Internet, everyone can read what you wrote about someone. It must really hurt someone just as bad as phiysical bullying. Its pretty intense how people kill themselves beacause of some mean people who really ruin their life. The thing about computer-communication is that you could say something as a joke, but it can be misunderstood. And if you post it online, its out there. You cant take it back. The damage has been done. I dont understand why the kids being bulled just tell an adult. I guess people still do it to humliate people, sound tough, or just hate the person so much they dont care what trouble they get into. And parents really shouldnt go along with it. Hopefully someone will invent a computer software that allowes you to say nothing mean.

I actually have connection to cyber-bullying. I had a freind in fifth grade and she said hey to me one day on facebook and said hey and she started cussing at me so i had to block her. this reminds me of Phineous and Ferb they talk about this and they say what you put online never goes away and it can hurt multiple peoples feelings. does anyone know if those messages that scare you are considered cyber-bullying?

I agree with Leyla that cyber bullying is very dangerous and that many things can be misunderstood. Sometimes, when I chat with my friends on Facebook, I try to tell them something sarcastic; although you cannot show how you are talking with how it sounds. This can hurt people and should definitely be taken seriously. Unlike other forms of bullying, though, it is less likely that there will be witnesses to tell an adult and know who the bully is.

Jacob and Layla are both right. Cyber bullying is VERY dangerous and affective! the fact that cyberbullying affects nearly half of all teens in the United States is pretty scary! This tells you that you that you have to be careful when you on things like Facebook and Twitter where you can chat! But if it does happen, you must try to tell an adult!
